World Cassowary Day

Join us at Fogarty Park in Cairns on Sunday 24th September for a FREE family friendly festival celebrating and advocating for the iconic Southern Cassowary.

World Cassowary Day was established in 2014 by conservationist Paul Webster and has grown into an annual event that celebrates community involvement in cassowary conservation.

Over recent years the event has drawn international attention to the plight of the southern cassowary and its diminishing habitat in Far North Queensland and 2017 is shaping up to be World Cassowary Day’s biggest yet! We’re moving to the foreshore at Cairns on Sunday 24 September – a day when thousands of people can come and engage in cassowary conservation, education and practical learning opportunities.
