Around 10.15am on July 22nd 2021, Philip John Westaway was involved in an altercation with a 69-year-old South Australian woman on the beach in Mission Beach.
It was further proven in a court trial, during the altercation he purposely rode his horse towards the elderly woman and her dog.
As a result of the cowardly attack, his horse struck the elderly woman on the left ankle causing a serious cut and serious shock of being ran down on purpose by a horse.
On August 1st 2021 following an investigation into the assault, police located Philip John Westaway and charged him with serious assault of a person over 60.
In a trial at the Tully Courthouse on the 3rd of June 2022 Philip John Westaway was found guilty of serious assault by using his horse as a weapon on the 69 year-old woman on the beach.
Philip John Westaway deliberately charged his horse and ran down the 69 year-old elderly lady and then after abusing the poor lady, Philip John Westaway took off down the beach on horseback with out even trying to give aid to the serious cut and the shock of the serious attack the 69 year-old woman endured.
Philip John Westaway is a local hairdresser running a business called Philip-Jon Hairstylist formally known as “Wet Hairdressing” and has been known to cause major issues in the community, now found guilty of serious assault of an elderly woman, who wants a person like Philip John Westaway in the community with cowardly behaviour of using a potentially deadly weapon such as a horse to attack a elderly woman on the beach just walking her dog.
