Visitors and residents of Mission Beach can now enjoy the Mission Beach Aquatic Centre every day of the week with the opening days and hours set to increase from tomorrow.
The Cassowary Coast Regional Council (CCRC) recently appointed a new fulltime operator to manage the aquatic centre, who officially takes over on Saturday 10 November.
Cassowary Coast Mayor John Kremastos said the new manager, John Cavanagh, is a local on the Cassowary Coast.
“John also has an extensive background in managing aquatic leisure centres in New South Wales and it will be great to see his success at the new facility,” said Mayor Kremastos.
“The current management agreement is for 18 months, with an option of a 12 month extension before Council goes to a management tender.
“John will be working towards the expansion of the kiosk and café facility over a period of time.”
There will be a new Facebook page (called Mission Beach Aquatic Centre) established for the purpose of managing the communication and notification information from the operator to the community.
