Level 2 Water Restrictions

Due to the high consumption of water, rapidly falling creek levels and low rainfall across the region, Cassowary Coast Regional Council must impose Level 2 water restrictions on all business and domestic customers effective immediately.

Mayor Kremastos, on the recommendation of Council’s Director of Infrastructure Services David Goodman, announced the following restriction:

“We have had to impose Level 2 water restrictions to try to restrict water consumption. I ask residents to observe these restrictions so we do not have to go to Level 3 in the event of low or no rainfall.”

Under Level 2 restrictions, no watering of gardens is permitted on Mondays, whether by manual or automated sprinklers, microspray or drip water systems or hand-held hoses.

Odd-numbered houses may use sprinklers on Tuesday and Saturdays between 6am and 7am and 6pm and 7pm only. Even-numbered houses may use sprinklers on Wednesdays and Sundays between 6am and 7am and 6pm and 7pm only.

Hand-held hoses, fitted with a trigger nozzle, may be used on any day except Mondays. Watering cans or buckets can be used at any time.

Other household and business activities are affected by these restrictions.
