Dunk Island Resort Continues To Be Rebuilt

Dunk island resort was badly damaged from tropical cyclone Yasi in 2011 and has been closed to the public while rebuilding of the resort continues to this date.

According to owner Adam Bond the rebuilding of the resort will be competed early 2018 and the resort will be reopened to the public.

Adam Bond said  “We are currently finalising the building contracts. This has taken a little longer than we would have liked however, we are working hard to have resort fully operational by The first quarter of 2018. This includes 86 rooms, The golf course, 4 bars and eateries and some new facilities”

“I sincerely appreciate the interest in the island and welcome the opportunity to answer questions regarding the redevelopment and planned operations directly”

We intend to position ourselves in the 4-4.5 star market range. Whilst catering to a broad market, we’re aiming to provide a high quality experience that isn’t out of reach

In 2014 the spit area was reopened to the public and there are plans to build shipwrecks that will include an area for concerts to bring in well known bands and artist from around the globe.

This year marks the return of the Dunk Island Billfish Classic after years of the event not being held. It will be great to have the return of this event bringing people back to Mission Beach and Dunk island.

“We’re thrilled that we are able to host the return of the Dunk Island Billfish Classic. The resort will be working to reinstate as many of the traditional island events as soon as practicable. Despite the resort under going reconstruction. The bars and Butterfly pool will be open to the public all weekend during the Billfish classic and we hope to see a good turn out from the locals” Mr Bond said.
