Important information has been received by Mission Beach News that is a serious public concern in the upcoming Cassowary Coast Regional Council elections, that is in the communities best interest to know the information.
Division 3 candidate Hilary Watson has been publicly claiming that Mrs Watson was involved with the New Year’s Eve fireworks last year, other information attained by Mission Beach News states Mrs Watson as a co-host on the official event page for the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Mission Beach last year.
Information attained by MBN is that a deliberate falsehood was made in order to take over the New Year’s Eve fireworks contract already in place by the New Years Eve Association.
Craig Tatnell from Above Ground Zero Fireworks was directly contacted by Mrs Watson in the first instance in November 2019, raising one of many concerns that the New Years Eve Association (NYEA) was never registered/approved to raise funding for the community New Year’s Eve fireworks event.
Registration in order to fundraise in Queensland falls under the Collections Act 1966 (the Act) for a charitable or community purpose to seek donations from the public.
Craig Tatnell made the claim to end the contract on the 14/11/2019 to the NYEA that they had incontrovertible evidence from government agencies, that the NYEA was not registered to raise funds nor could directly approach likely donors to seek any funding.
This claim is a deliberate falsehood given the attached information attained by Mission Beach News from the office of the Attorney-General, Minister for Justice, Leader of the House.
The Honourable Yvette D’Ath for Redcliffe had requested her Chief of Staff, James Sullivan, to respond on her behalf on a formal request for the Minister to determine, if community fireworks was a purpose to seek funds and that required approval, under certain provisions of the Collections Act 1966.
The information written on the 20/12/2019 by the Ministers office, that is the final say on this matter under certain provisions of the Act.
This information from the Ministers office has completely given incontrovertible evidence that the claim the NYEA must be registered is deliberately false and completely dishonest as they had claimed their proof was directly from the government.
On the 5th of December 2019 Craig Tatnell had made a public comment on a post on his business Facebook page.
“Actually It worked a treat! Don’t worry it was very well thought out in close consultation with others and the problem seems to be resolved” Craig Tatnell
A honest opinion by any reasonable person would mean Hilary Watson was one of these other people, when it was very well thought out in close consultation with others, claiming information that is a deliberate falsehood and completely dishonest.
Mission Beach News reached out to Hilary Watson yesterday to give Mrs Watson an opportunity for a comment on the record regarding this matter, no reply has been received to date.
The above information is not an isolated matter in dishonest conduct & false claims with the information attained by Mission Beach News, that will be reported in due course to the public, connected to the New Year’s Eve event last year.
The dishonest conduct also includes the libellous story by Sean Dent from the Cassowary Coast Independent News on the 14/11/2019 who claimed key information had came from Craig Tatnell, who has now been exposed to the public as one of the people in the above deliberately false claims.
Sean Dent has been requested to prove his story on the 14/11/2019 more than once and has failed to provide any proof to any of the story claims to date.
This information is in the best interest of the community to know that a candidate running for councillor, who is claiming to be honest and have integrity on her official election page Hilary Watson – 2020 Div. 3 Candidate – Cassowary Coast Regional Council
