Craig Tatnell who runs Above Ground Zero Fireworks in Townsville has had a post on his Facebook business page removed for defamation by Facebook.
On the 5th of December 2019 Mr Tatnell posted defaming information about a person who had hired Above Ground Zero Fireworks to conduct a fireworks display.
Mr Tatnell even paid Facebook to promote the defaming post.
Early in February 2021 a formal defamation report was made with Facebook, with Facebook taking the quick action of removing the post for violating their Terms of Service on defamation.
In this post Mr Tatnell lied about the band U2 playing for free in Mission Beach and later admitted he had planted the fake story in a local paper.
The owner of the paper was not fooled by the lies of Mr Tatnell and in mediation the story was fully retracted about U2 playing for free in Mission Beach, as per the non-confidential agreement below.
Mr Tatnell who has now become known in the community as “Pinocchio” had also lied and was dishonest to gain a benefit over another, falsely claiming that anyone is required to be registered in order to fundraise to hold community fireworks in Queensland under the Collections Act 1966 (The Act)
The Queensland Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Leader of the House had determined that there is no need to be registered under “The Act” and full evidence community members was totally dishonest in their false claims.
This post removed by Facebook is not a isolated incident of defamation on Facebook by Mr Tatnell with a number of other posts and comment containing defamation.
Sources have it, a pending lawsuit for defamation is set to be formally lodged with the courts against Mr Tatnell in the coming weeks.
Mission Beach News has requested a comment on the record from Mr Tatnell who has refused to put a comment on the record to this date.
