Christopher Lawrence of Mission Beach was found guilty in the Tully Courthouse last week for common assault & assault causing bodily harm and received 150 hours community service for a serious act of violence at his sentencing.
This sentence by the judge at Tully Courthouse shows how poor our justice system is in punishing people committing serious offences of violence against other community members.
Mr Lawrence seriously attacked a person for taking photos of the rubbish left over from a event holder for new year’s eve that is required to not have glass in a event area and illegal discharge of emergency flares in the event area.
Other photos taken were of illegal drinking in a public area during the NYE event last year, run by Hilary Watson and Philip-Jon Westaway as discovered as the organisers of a event page on Facebook.
Why the photos of rubbish on the beach and in the event area have anything to do with Mr Lawrence is anyone’s guess.
Mr Lawrence pleaded guilty to the serious charges of attacking another community member in David Street on new year’s day this year.
There was false claims on social media by unknown community members that the attack never had taken place and there was no evidence, however what the unknown person/s making the false claim it didn’t know, video evidence shows the serious attack by Mr Lawrence had in fact seriously assaulted another community member in David Street after attempts to steal the victims phone were unsuccessful in the first attempt.
The justice system is very weak in only community service for serious acts of violence and attempting to change the course of a serious investigation by unknown people on social media.
Mission Beach News has requested all evidence, including CCTV that shows how serious the attack was by Mr Lawrence. Mr Lawrence is also facing other assault charges on a very well liked member of the Mission Beach community.
More on this other serious attack on another community at a later date as that attack is before the courts and may interfere with a ongoing investigation.
Do you think a serious act of violence causing bodily harm should receive a mandatory jail sentence ❓
The Queensland Attorney-General has been asked to review the poor sentence and any possible appeal for this cowardly attack on new year’s day for the charges laid were adequate, given the CCTV footage shows premeditation in Mr Lawrence’s serious criminal actions in planning to disguise himself.
There is many community members in Mission Beach, that believe a act of violence should be rewarded and is entertaining, that is very sad for Mission Beach to be known for this kind of behaviour and makes out attacking people is acceptable behaviour when it is far from acceptable and downright idiotic.
If anyone knows of any other criminal behaviour committed by Mr Lawrence, please report it to the police or Crimestoppers, this person is an unacceptable risk to our community.
