At approximately 3:30 pm yesterday a Cassowary was hit by a car on the Tully Mission Beach road.
Thankfully the driver called it in and wildlife rescue responded.
The bird did get up and ran off into the forest with no blood found, so hopefully will be ok.
Wildlife officers were searching in the forest, however the bird was not sighted.
Please drive carefully on our roads and watch out for our wildlife.
