Department of Environment and Heritage look after ALL cassowary incidents, sightings and reports. They’re the first response team for sick, injured, orphaned or deceased cassowaries. You can reach them on 1300 130 372.
Birds needing care or rehabilitation are then taken to Garners Beach Rehab Centre or Tablelands Cassowary Facility, which are both funded by Rainforest Reserves Australia
Ingrid from Cassowary Keystone Conservation is the caretaker of the Garners Beach centre and looks after all the cassowaries at this facility. She assists EHP with the location and rescue of cassowaries to bring them into care, and attends all cassowary/dog encounters.
