Cassowary Coast now on level 2 water restrictions
Immediate level two water restrictions are in place across the region due to minimal rainfall over the past two months.
Council have introduced water conservation measures due to depleted supplies in the creeks and intakes and the likelihood of continuing hot conditions and low rainfall.
At Level 2 the water conservation measures for watering of private gardens are:
• Odd-numbered houses can use sprinklers on Tuesdays and Saturdays between 6am and 7am and 6pm and 7pm.
• Even-numbered houses can use sprinklers on Wednesdays and Sundays between 6am and 7am and 6pm and 7pm.
• No watering of gardens by trigger nozzles or sprinklers on Mondays.
• Hand-held hoses with a trigger nozzle can be used at any time on any day except Monday.
• Watering cans and buckets can be used at any time.
Cassowary Coast Mayor John Kremastos said water is a precious resource even when you live in the wettest region in Australia.
“We have had a relatively dry and hot period leading into Spring and these conditions are likely to prevail for some time, so it is important to implement a considered, wise and sustainable approach towards water use,” said Cr Kremastos.
“Our water sources are finite and until the region receives some substantial rainfall, we all need to be water wise.
“The more we reduce our consumption, the longer we can delay moving up to higher levels of restrictions.”
Fines may apply for water use not in accordance with Council’s Schedule of Water Restrictions.

The public will be informed when the water restrictions are lifted or increased.
