Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan said the charity was thrilled to be bringing the Walk for Women’s Cancers event back to Cairns for the fifth year.
“Sadly one in six women who will be diagnosed with a breast or gynaecological cancer in their lifetime,” Ms McMillan said.
“By taking part in this year’s Walk for Women’s Cancers event, Cairns locals will be helping raise funds so we can continue to invest in lifesaving research, prevention programs and support services for those affected.”
The 2019 Cairns Walk For Women’s Cancers ambassador is breast cancer survivor Angie Moyle.
Walk for Women’s Cancers in Cairns has raised $70,000 to help fund support services, research, prevention and early detection programs for women’s cancers.
The event will see local women, men and children, dressed in pink, come together at Salt House in Marina Point on Sunday, September 8 at 8am and participate in either a 3km or 6km walk to raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland’s work in women’s cancers.

Pre-register adult prices are $25 (3km) and $30 (6km) and on the day adult registration is $35. Children under 5 walk free and children between the age of 6-17 can pre-register for $5 and can register on the day for $10.
