2017 Cassowary Awards

The Wet Tropics Management Authority’s Cassowary Awards has been recognising the exceptional contributions to World Heritage Area management within our communities since 1999.

As a way of celebrating and supporting the outstanding contributions made towards the conservation and preservation of our World Heritage Area, Wet Tropics created the Cassowary Awards in 1999.

Over the years, the Cassowary Awards have grown to become a widely respected recognition of exceptional conservation effort from a diverse range of individuals, groups and organisations including farmers, conservationists, students and educational bodies as well as scientists, artists and tourism operators.

The Wet Tropics Management Authority Board seeks nominations for the Awards from its partners, stakeholders and the public.

Cassowary Awards are given to individuals and/or groups, organisations and schools and include both adults and young people (the Young Cassowary Award).
